We love volunteering for a great cause & we were asked by Erin & Candace at Yoj Events (who did an unbelievable job organizing this event) to photograph the 2010 American Heart Association Heart Ball. The Heart Ball took place at the beautiful Charleston Place. It was a gathering of local vendors, artists, and people who either volunteered or gave donations to raise money for the help of heart and vascular research and education. Many great local artists donated their beautiful pieces for auction, some donated specialty wines, jewels, furniture, etc. Some pieces were included in the silent auction and others were auctioned off after dinner – and to see people’s generosity was inspiring!
So many wonderful people gave their time and talents to this great cause. Below are only a few of all the amazing & unique centerpieces and displays donated by Charleston vendors.

Many thanks go out to everyone who volunteered & donated their time including Todd St. Onge of TEC, Erin Wade of CT Touring, Lee Hildebrand of Connie Duglin, Petals by Pamela, Country and Lace Florist, Cafe Catering, JW Weddings and Events, inventive Environments, Wildflowers Inc, Eventa Bella, Stems, Southern Protocol, Simply Eventful, Branch Design Studio, Susan Gough Wedding Design, Duvall Event Design, Luke Wilson Special Events, & Yoj Events.
After moving to Charleston in November, I wasn’t sure how long it would take to make friends here. Coincidently, I met Kerri literally 3 hours after moving into our apartment. Ever since that night, Kerri has been a ray of sunshine in my life! She is a down to earth, beautiful, wonderful woman and I am so honored to call her my friend. Yesterday I took Kerri to the beach & took some photos of her. She was amazing in front of the camera, and I feel like I captured an essence of her beauty. I could ramble for a long time about how cool this chick is, but I’ll let the photos do the talking – here she is, my new friend Kerri…

We did a quick photo shoot of Luke and Blakely for the prestigious Pointe Magazine. They needed a photograph for one of their spreads and we were happy to oblige. Little Blakely is adorable and absolutely smitten with her dad, Luke! They were so much fun to watch interact, we could tell immediately that Luke is great father! Here’s some of our favorite images…

We were pleased to meet Chris (pictured center stage) a few weeks back about some photographic opportunities through him and his company, G.A.T.E. which is a rad hair salon and an education center for the top hair stylists out there. We collaborated some creative concepts with him about his team’s bio picture to be used for their advertisement and website. Chris wanted a “rock band” feel, gave his direction, and let us have free reign with the creativity and composition. Needless to say, we had a blast creating this concept! Pictured below are some set up photographs and then the final product.

We met Phillip at church a few weeks back and got rolling in conversation about life, music, and photography. He is an aspiring, talented, musician and full of life in Jesus. He wanted some photos of himself and his guitar for some future promo shots. We brought him to a few locations around Charleston to test out some more lighting techniques.
In this blog post, we are going to show you how our editing skills can take a good photo and make it a great one. Why are we showing you this? Because… we want our clients to have the knowledge of everything they are paying for. The work a client hires us for, goes beyond just the session time, it is the editing process we spend most of our time (we work about 5 hours editing for every 1 hour we photograph). Of course, a good photograph beings with good composition and exposure, but it is most often the quality of editing that brings a photograph alive. Here at Hyer Images, we believe our photography skills combined with our editing is what sets us uniquely apart, so take the time to look through the photos below and see what we created!

Great news! We are going to be a part of A Wonderful Wedding exposition in Charleston on January 24th (12-5pm)! We hope this will help us get Hyer Images’s name out there. If any of you Charleston brides are on here, be sure to visit our booth!
For a little taste of our style, here is Mike and Mandy’s wedding we photographed this past August. Mike and Mandy reside in San Francisco and came to Mandy’s hometown, Richland Center, Wisconsin to celebrate their union. The entire day, beginning to end, was a visual treat! Mandy and her mom pulled together a beautiful set up on their property. They kept the theme of the wedding a garden feel with a modern twist – it was done exquisitely. Mike and his guys got ready in a bed and breakfast loft down the road (which I must say, is sa-weet!) and Mandy and her girls prepared in her mother’s own green house (perfect for a photographer – it was like one huge softbox!) . The love between Mike and Mandy was obvious, sincere, and beautifully raw. As photographers, we had a wonderful time photographing the love, the scene, and the details. Ahhh, we are so blessed and in love with our job!

Mike and Mandy planned and choreographed a surprise dance… the best way to get the party started!

Greetings! We are Billy and Rachel Hyer, the owners & photographers of Hyer Images! We recently moved here to Charleston and are SO excited about it! We are portraiture and wedding based photographers, but are excited to expand our horizons for anything that comes our way! We LOVE people, and LOVE capturing the essence of them in a photograph.
Over the next few weeks and months, we will be going back into our archives to show y’all some work we have done over the past year in the Midwest. Think of it as a way to get to know us better. We will be also posting some current work
! So pull up a chair, grab a sweet tea, and enjoy the visual stimulations to come!
Here are some photos of us that we took last night. We tried out some external flash techniques for the first time and it was a BLAST! We brought some of our old cameras for a little unique flair, enjoy!
